About

Hey, I'm Larry.

I help leaders bring their full selves to their life and leadership, for the good of the world.

Portrait of Larry Boatright

My father was killed in a car accident five days before I was born.

I didn't have words for it until much later, but I've been learning what it takes to become whole ever since.

For nearly 30 years I've led from the middle of real organizations. Executive director. Chief of staff. Interim lead pastor for fifteen months. I've rebuilt teams after a crisis, helped organizations grow faster than their systems could handle, and sat with leaders in the moments nobody posts about.

Here's what I've learned. The leaders who last aren't always the most talented people in the room. They're the ones who did the deeper work. Put two leaders with the same résumé in the same seat and you'll get two completely different organizations. The difference is almost always formation.

So that's my work now. I trained at the Townsend Institute, where I earned an MA in Executive Coaching and Consulting, and I bring that training together with nearly 30 years in the seat. Competence and character. Rigor and warmth. I refuse to pick one.

I'm not just a leader. I'm a creative, and I've spent my life and career finding ways to discover and release the potential in the people, places, and processes around me. Sometimes that looks like a leadership team. Sometimes it looks like The Short Game, a feature film I co-wrote that was released in theaters in 2025 and won six best-picture awards on the festival circuit. I write and produce music. I've been married 28 years, I'm a dad of two grown kids, and I will happily talk your ear off about smoking a brisket. I'm a coach who happens to be a Christian, and I work with leaders of every faith and none.

If you're feeling stretched thin, you don't have to stay there. You're capable of more, and I'd love to help you get there.

What I believe about leaders

Formation over information.

Most leaders already know enough. What they need is to become someone who can carry what they know.

Competence and character.

I won't make you choose between rigor and wholeness. The leaders who flourish have both.

Rhythm over resilience.

Endurance will get you through a season. Rhythm is what lets you lead for a lifetime.
